STUDENT NURSES COUNCIL – FMCON

SNC :

The Student Nurses' council (SNC) of Father Muller College of Nursing is one of the best platforms for the student nurses and it provides curricular and co-curricular programs, communicates issues and concerns relevant to nursing, encourages participation in community health-related activities and promotes legislative involvement of the nursing student. The SNC aids in the development of the whole person, his/her professional role and his/her responsibility for healthcare of people in all walks of life. SNC unit of our college strictly follows the Bye- laws of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI).

Purpose:

The purposes of the SNC are to provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interest and concerns to nursing students. Membership in SNC aids in the development of the whole person, including the professional role.

Objectives:

ñ To uphold the dignity and honour of the nursing profession.

ñ To promote participation in student community affairs.

ñ To involve the students in intercollegiate sports and cultural activities.

ñ To promote collaborative relationships with various health organizations.

ñ To bring out the talents and confidence of the students for the upliftment of  self and society.

ñ To inculcate the value of espirit de corps.

ñ To develop leadership abilities among the students.

ñ To improve the students social contacts to enhance professional growth.

Membership

All the under graduate nursing students of the Father Muller college of Nursing are the members of SNC.

Membership fee

Each Student pays Rs.200/- every year to the SNC fund.

·         Karnataka State Nursing Council, Bangalore.

Official organ

The Nursing journal of India is the official organ of the Association. Our SNC unit has 2-4 copies of the journal for our access.

Meetings of the council

SNC conducts meetings every month with prior notification. Agenda prepared by the Advisor shall be approved by the President. Copies of the committee reports are filed in the President’s and Advisor’s file. SNC secretary maintains the report of all the activities carried out in the SNC unit.

Standing committees

·         Advisory committee:

Advisory committee of SNC plans and carryout the activities for the unit. Every year election will be conducted to elect the office bearers of the respective years.

·         Finance committee:

Finance committee maintains the accounts of the year and presents in the General assembly.

·         Programme committee:

SNC conducts various curricular and co-curricular activities for the students in the whole year. 

·         Editorial committee:

Students actively participate in the editorial committee of the college for the magazine. SNC unit collects the best articles of the students and hands over to the editorial committee of the college for its publication.

·         Disciplinary committee:

SNC unit has the responsibility of maintaining the discipline among the students. Every year, students will be oriented towards the rules and regulations and uniform code in the college as well as in the clinical areas.

·         Elections:

SNC conducts election every year for the post of Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, Programme Co-ordinator, Treasurer and Joint Treasurer.

Activities conducted by SNC - FMCON

Ø  SNC election for the new office bearers and handing over ceremony was held on 20.10.12 at 2.30 pm in the Rajath Bhavan of FMCON.

Ø  Periodic executive meetings with prior notification. SNC unit advisors and the executives planned out various activities along with the SNC President.

Ø  Finale of the Silver Jubilee year of FMCON was held on 02-11-2012 in the academy hall. Former directors and principals of the institution were honored. Students performed various cultural events.

Ø  FRESHERS DAY ‘JOIE DE VIVRE’ OF FMCON was conducted on 14^th November 2012 in the Academy hall.

Ø  Gitanjali – Kalasangam competitions: The students of FMCON participated in various cultural competitions which was held at Gitanjali from November 3^rd to November 25^th and won several prizes in competition.

Ø  RGUHS athletic meet was conducted in November 2012 at Bapuji college, Davangere. Students of FMCON participated and won several prizes.

Ø  Lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony: lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony of the 55^th batch of GNM and 26^th batch of BSc Nursing students was held on 5^th December 2012 at Academy hall FMCI.

Ø  Annual Athletic Meet: As a part of Nurses day celebration, FMCON &FMSON organized athletic meet on 27^th of April in Father Muller Stadium. Mr. Keith Furtado was the chief guest. The Valedictory function of the meet was at 4.30pm, the chief guest of the program was Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho. The prize distribution was followed. The programme got over by vote of thanks and National Anthem.

Ø  Cultural fest and SNC day celebrations: As a part of SNC day, the cultural fest – “FESTIN O BEATS” was organized from May 1^st to 4^th. Total 30 cultural events were organized for the students over 3 days. All the students actively participated in cultural events. The overall trophy was won by 4^th year BSc Nursing students. The cultural events were organized for the faculty of school and college of nursing too. The SNC day was celebrated on 19^th May in the Academy hall.           Mrs. Pramila & Mr. Shiju, Lecturers of FMCON were given the responsibility as Teacher Incharges for the cultural fest- FESTIN O BEATS.

Ø  RHYTHM: MBBS students organized “RHYTHM – FMCI MUSICAL NITE” on 22.05.2013 in the FMCI stadium. Students from college and school of Nursing actively participated in the various events.

Ø  Farewell Programme: The Farewell Programme-“BONNA FORTUNA” was organized under the leadership of 3^rd year BSc Nursing and 1^st year PBBSc Nursing for the outgoing 4^th year BSc and 2^nd year PBBSc Nursing in the Academy hall on 6.7.2013.

Ø  As a part of WORLD RED CROSS DAY, the students of College of Nursing have participated in the Poster competition on the topic “Disaster management” on 8^th May 2013 in the Silver Jubilee hall.

Ø  Students have participated in the Inter-collegiate poster competition on the topic “International Nurses Day -2013” which was held by Athena College of Nursing on 16^th May 2013.
