Psychopharminar- 2016
Psychopharminar-2016, the 3rd National seminar was jointly organized by Department of Mental Health Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing; Department of Pharmacology, Father Muller Medical College; Department of Psychiatry, K S Hegde Medical Academy and South India Unit, International Network UNESCO Chair Bioethics(Haifa) in association with World Psychiatric Association on 17th January 2016 at 8:15 am in Conference Hall, Father Muller Medical College Hospital.
The inauguration of the seminar was done by Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions; Chief Guest Shri N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, NITTE university; Dr Satheesh Rao and Dr Vijayalaxmi M K, the Organizing Chairpersons and Mr Shajan Xaviour, the Organizing Secretary, by lighting the lamp. Proceedings of the seminar were also released during the inauguration.
The sessions of the day were “what is new in management of bipolar disorders” by Dr Russel D’Souza, Executive Director, UNESCO Chair Bioethics, Melbourne Australia; “Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS)” by Dr E Mohandas, Psychiatrist, Sun Medical and Research centre, Trichur; “Novel antidepressants what is in pipeline?” by Dr Rajesh Nagpal, Psychiatrist and Psychologist, Manobal klinic, Newdelhi; “Regulatory psycholpharmacological clinical trial-The role of a research nurse” by Dr Sumathy Sathyamoorthy, Nurse Manager, Northern university, Melbourne, Australia; “Beyond monoamines-Novel targets for depression” by Dr Shalini Adiga, Professor and HOD, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and “Options besides plain antipsychotic tablets in schizophrenia” by Dr Anil Kakunje, Associate Professor, Yenepoya Medical College. The sessions were chaired by eminent personalities from various institutions.
Dr Santhosh Prabhu, Asst Prof. and Consultant Psychiatrist, KS Hedge Medical Academy and Dr Princy L Palatty, Head, South India Unit, International Network UNESCO Chair Bioethics(Haifa) conducted Quiz competition for the delegates.
The valedictory programme was conducted at 5.45 pm. The best paper presenter and Quiz winners were awarded. The conference came to an end by 6.30 pm.
