IV BHMS students visited BASF chemical factory Private India Ltd on Friday, 21.3.2014. Mr D Souza, & Mr Santhosh Pai, of Human Resource Department explained the Functioning of the chemical factory, Its Safety Measures implemented, Occupational Health Hazards, Medical Benefits to the employees in detail. Students were taken around the campus. Dr T R Udupa described the Occupational Health Services provided by the Occupational Health Centre located within the factory. There was an interactive session for more than two hours in the training hall. BASF is a German based company and it stands for Badesche Anilin Soda Fabrics. The students of IV BHMS regular & III BHMS supplementary batch visited BASF, Katipalla, Surathkal on Wednesday the 27th March 2013 as a part of the field visits held by the department of community medicine. BASF(Badische Aniline Soda Fabric) a german based company manufactured 2 products Soda & Aniline initially.
Presently they manufacture more than 8000 chemicals which are raw materials. The leading products include dyes, leather colour, decorative paints and automotive paints. The students were taken in and around the factory to show up the working of different plants and disposal of the waste products. Later the students attended a session by Mr Gopalakrishna regarding the safety and environment and Mr Santhosh Pai interacted with the students clearing their doubts.
An educational tour to Ooty and Mysore was conducted on 26th and 27th September 2007 for I BHMS students. II year students visit Water Purification Plant and Milk Diary every year. |
