The Paediatric unit of the out-patient department of Father Muller Homoeopathic medical college and hospital has organized a free health check-up for one week from 14th to 20th November 2013 with the theme being “Malnutrition” on the eve of Children’s day.
The health check up programme began on 14th of November at 9.00 a.m.
On Children’s day, 2 competitions were conducted like the Healthy baby for 5-10 yrs age group in which 17 children participated and Drawing for 11-14yrs age group in which 19 children participated. The topic given for drawing competition was “Seasons”.
To convey messages on “Malnutrition”, Awareness talk was given with printed handouts and a nutritive pack containing dry fruits was handed over to the patients.
The postgraduates and interns took active part in decorating the paediatric unit, conducting the competitions and distributing sweets to the children who visited the OPD on this special day.
There were patients mostly from the nearby locality and schools.
On the same day evening, 60 children of the De Mercide Ashram at Paneer were given gifts, sweets and the nutritive pack.
It was a real time of joy for the children and it was a pleasure for us doctors to see such bliss on the faces of these innocent children.
On the whole the programme was a grand success because of the co-operation of all the Managing committee members, Administrator Rev. Fr.Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Principal, Prof. Dr Shivaprasad K, Vice Principal Dr Prabhu Kiran, Medical Superintendent, Dr Sunny Mathew and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Dr Girish Navada, also the Paediatric HOD, Dr Jyoshna S along with other Paediatric unit consultants, Paediatric Postgraduates and interns.
