A C.M.E on Bioethics was organised by the ethical committee of Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College in association with UNESCO CHAIR in Bioethics, South India Unit, FMCI, Mangalore, as part of faculty development programme on 11.11.13.
The programme began with a prayer song by the post graduate students followed by the welcome speech of the Principal Dr Shivaprasad. Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha spoke on the importance of ethics in his address. Dr Madona Joseph, Coordinator of Ethical Committee, FMHMC proposed the vote of thanks.
The day was divided into various sessions which went on till 4.00 PM. Dr Princy Louis Palatty, Professor, Department of Pharmacology, opened up the first session on the Introduction and History of Bioethics. Dr Madona Joseph, HOD, Department of Forensic Medicine took up the second session on the Principles of Bioethics. Dr Nagesh K R, Professor Department of Forensic Medicine continued on with the third and fourth sessions discussing the Beginning and End of Life Issues. The fifth session was engaged by Dr Rashmi Mathai, Assistant Professor, Dept of Medicine on Bedside Ethics and Doctor-Patient Relationship. Dr M S Baliga had the last session on Publication Ethics.
The programme was concluded with a Valedictory function and distribution of certificates. Dr Rema Ram Kumar was the MC of the programme. |
