NSS Day - 2013
|
|
NSS day was celebrated at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College on 25th September 2013 at 2.00 PM in the college Auditorium. The Theme for NSS day is “Healthy youth for Healthy India”. Based on this theme, to maintain Health among all, keeping environment clean and fertile, “Go Green” campaign took place in our campus.
The event began with the prayer song by NSS volunteers. Any event like this should happen in the bright light; hence lighting the lamp was done by the Chief Guest Mr Dinesh Nayak, Administrator Rev Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Principal Dr Shivaprasad K, Vice Principal Dr E S J Prabhukiran, Founder Director Rev Fr Peter Noronha, NSS Coordinator Dr Ranjan C Britto, NSS student representatives Deeraj and Tejaswini.
This was followed by welcome speech by the Principal who introduced the guest to the gathering. Rev Fr Peter Noronha greeted the guest with a flower bouquet.
The Chief Guest for the “Go GREEN” campaign is the Advisor Green Belt SEZ Ltd, Mangalore. He addressed the gathering on medicinal herbs that are indigenous and extinct. Also he cleared the queries raised by the students and gave a list of plants that are wrongly identified.
After his address, the Administrator felicitated the Chief Guest with a memento and spoke a few words of gratitude and rendered his message to create awareness about the hazards of using plastic in the campus.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ranjan Britto, NSS Coordinator, NSS Unit FMHMC.
A short film was screened on the theme “Go Green” to the crowd followed by unveiling of the NSS Board by the Administrator.
As an initiative, the NSS volunteers involved themselves in removing the littered plastic in and around the campus. Also they posted placards saying “No to Plastic”, “Avoid Plastic, Save Earth” “Go Green”.
