FATHER MULLER MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL LABORATORY (FMMCHL)
FMMCHL is a NABL accredited laboratory catering to the needs of in house as well as outside patients. It is the only lab in this region which is accredited for all the braches of medical lab (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Hematology & Oncology, Histopathology & Cytology). This year the lab is reaccredited by NABL for the second time. The accreditation is valid till August 2016 . FMMCHL has well qualified authorized signatories, technicians and other staff. The team comprising of lab director, quality manager, technical managers and deputy managers, monitors and maintains the quality of lab reports. FMMCHL has internal and external quality assurance programme in place . In the recently conducted NABH assessment, lab was considered as one of excellent departments in FMMCH. The lab safety and risk assessment programmes have been appreciated by the NABH assessors.
This year Biochemistry lab has procured Cobas 6000 automatted analyzer and osmometer. It has introduced automated electrophoresis with quantitation, osmolality and vitamin D tests .
The department of Microbiology has introduced a new test - Xpert MTB/RIF is an automated real time nucleic acid amplification technology for rapid and simultaneous detection of tuberculosis and rifampicin resistance. This test can be done both on pulmonary and extrapulmonary samples in adults and children.
In histopathology, Direct immunofluorescence test for skin biopsies, new IHC markers (anti HSA, Anti TTF-1, Anti Epithelial specific antigen, anti cadhesin, Moc-31 and Calretinin are started. A semiautomatted IHC slide stainer is procured. Cytology section is doing immunocytochemistry on FNA smears and fluid smears. Hematology section has procured new coagulation test analyzer ACL elite pro.
Safety is given priority, and lab has procured eye wash stations, is in the process of procuring grossing station for Histopathology. |
