Nutrition Day Celebration 2010
As a part of the academic activities a Nutrition Day was organized by the first year G N M students on 15-5-2010 at 2.30 pm in the school of nursing.
Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director FMCI, Rev Fr Denis D’sa Administrator FMCON&FMSON, Rev Sr Winnifred D’souza Principal FMSON, Rev Sr Jacintha D’souza Principal FMCON presided over the function. Rev Fr Denis D’sa and Rev Sr Winnifred D’souza delivered the message on the occasion and congratulated the students. Importance of nutrition was depicted by a skit and other entertainment programmes and spot games were conducted followed by delicious appetizers prepared by the students.


Various types of diets for various disease conditions were prepared and displayed in the nutrition lab. The programme was enthusiastic and creative and appreciated by all.
Christmas Celebration 2009
The Christmas celebration of faculty of school and college of nursing was on 21st December 2009 in the silver jubilee hall at 2.00 pm. Rev. Sr Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, College of Nursing, Rev. Sr Winnifred D’Souza, Principal, School of Nursing, Prof. Mariette D’Silva, Vice Principal, College of Nursing, and all the teaching faculty gathered for the programme.
Rev. Sr Jacintha D’Souza conveyed the Christmas message and gifts were exchanged among the suspense Christmas friends. Games and fun added colour to the event. Sr Teena, Lecturer, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing anchored the event.
Gitanjali Winners
The students of Father Muller College and School of Nursing have won 20 prizes in various competitions held at Gitanjali from 31st October to 21st November 2009. The College of Nursing team are the Overall Runners Up of Kala Sangam 2009 with 1024 points.
Freshers’ Day
The freshers' day of Father Muller College and School of Nursing was conducted on 14th November 2009,at 2pm in the Academy hall. The occasion was graced by the presence of The Director FMCI Rev.Fr.Patrick Rodrigues,the Administrator FMCON and FMSON Rev.Fr.Denis D's a,Spiritual Director Rev.Fr.Felix Montheiro,Principal FMCON Rev.Sr.Jacintha D'souza,Principal FMSON Rev.Sr.Winnifred D'souza,Vice principal FMCON Mrs. Mariette,teaching faculty and students of college of nursing and school of nursing.
The freshers of GNM,B.Sc(N),P.C.B.Sc(N) and MSc(N) gave a vibrant and colorful cultural programme, which was enjoyed by the audience.The Director enlightened that nothing is impossible if we have the will. He gave a valuable message to the students that,bury the 'i can't', attitude and bring up " 'i will','i shall' and 'i can' " which will be the key of success in life.
Teachers Day Programme
The Teachers Day was celebrated on 5th September 2009 at 9.00 am..
Saplings were planted and watered by the dignitaries Rev Fr Denis D'sa Administrator Father Muller College & School of Nursing , Rev Sr Jacintha Principal College of nursing,,Rev Sr Winnifred D'souza Principal School of Nursing and Prof. Mariette D'Silva Vice principal, College of Nursing.
Rev Sr Jacintha D’Souza has delivered a speech and she quoted that to teach is to touch the heart.. Rev Fr Denis D'Sa had given an inspiring message by stressing that the teachers can make & also mold a personality. There was an entertainment programme conducted by the teachers followed by refreshment.
Release of “Muller Spring – 2009”,the College Magazine
The college of Nursing has organized the function of the release of “Muller Spring 2009” the annual magazine of college of nursing, and it was unveiled to all by Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues on 25/07/2009 at 4 pm in the Academy Hall.
There is a proverb which says “Pen is Sharper than the Sword” and the 3rd B. Sc Nursing Students are proud enough to tell that they had put together their pens and thoughts and have unleashed their creativity in the college magazine “Muller Spring 2009” after many months of toil under the direction of staff advisor, Sr. Mariamma and leadership of student editor Ms. Janish D’souza.
The magazine provides a window through which the academic and the co-curricular activities of the college will be available for viewing. To the readers, it presents a peak review of the annual journey, thoughts, visuals, color, creativity and scroll of honors of the college.
National Nursing Conference on “NURSE EDUCATOR: CARE TAKER TO CAREER MAKER”
A national nursing conference on “NURSE EDUCATOR: CARE TAKER TO CAREER MAKER” is being held at Father Muller Charitable hospital on 27th & 28th February 2009. It is being organized by staffs & II year MSc nursing students of Father Muller Nursing Institution on the occasion of golden jubilee celebration of Father Muller School of Nursing.
Welcome address was given by Rev Sr Winnifred D’souza followed by lighting the lamps & garlanding the portraits of Florence nightingale & Fr Augustus Muller. Sr Jacintha D’souza gave the key note address.The guest of honour, Mrs Leena Rodrigus addressed the gathering by sharing her personal experience in her successful career in nursing. She emphasized the importance of nurturing for the human existence. and said that nursing is an oldest of art & youngest of profession & nurse educators should prepare the nursing students to face the future.
Rev Fr Dennis D’Sa emphasized on the triple role of a nurse, ‘edutainment’ (the combination of education & entertainment along with caring). Prof S.S. Prabhudeva highlighted the importance of revising the nursing curriculum. He said humanity, love, kindness is the vital force to communicate with individuals & focused on evidence based nursing practice & improving teaching-learning methods.. Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigus felicitated the chief guest & guest of honour and stressed on the challenges on nurse educators to bring about quality changes in nursing care.
CHRISTMAS DAY CELEBRATIONS 08

“Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy
which shall be to all people”
The joy of Christmas season was shared among the patients of Psychiatry ward by the IInd year GNM, IIIrd year B.Sc and IInd year PCBSc as they entertained the patients with an array of Christmas programmes on 16th 2008 at 3p.m. for which The Chief Guests were Sr. Aileen Mathias, Nursing Superintendent and Mrs. Channu Bhattacharya H.O.D. of Psychiatry.
The programme included games, carols and dance for the entertainment of the patients. The programme started by evoking God’s blessings and then followed by entertainment programmes. Games were conducted in which the patients actively participated and had fun and homely experience.
Later a short message was given by Sr. Aileen Mathias the superintendent of Nursing about the significance of the season.
Programme came to an end by carol singing.

CHILDREN- AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME
On 29.11.08, as a part of Children – AIDS Awareness Programme, a test was conducted by the 1st year M.Sc Community Health Nursing students for 8th grade students of Vidya Jyothi School, Jyothi Nagar after half an hour lecture on AIDS, its prevention and treatment. The response was excellent. Two students secured the first prize; the second prize was bagged by one student and another student got the third prize while six students secured consolation prizes.
The prizes were awarded on the occasion of Children- AIDS Awareness Programme held in their school on 1st of December, 2008.



On 1.12.2008, Children- AIDS awareness programme was organized for 6th, 7th & 8th class students (124 in total) of Vidya Jyothi School. Sr. Jacintha D’Souza (Principal FMCON), Sr.Winnifred (Principal FMSON), Sr. Irene (Head mistress of Vidya Jyothi School), Mr. Mallanna (community leader) and senior faculties of school and colleges occupied the dais.
The AIDS Awareness programme was given a traditional start by lighting the lamp which signified enlightenment by the dignitaries on dais. Sr Irene addressed the student body by explaining the importance of knowledge in prevention of AIDS; Sr. Jacintha D’Souza appreciated the students’ discipline and active participation in AIDS awareness programme.
A role play was performed by the 3rd year GNM students with the theme of “KNOW AIDS FOR NO AIDS” under the guidance of their class coordinator Mrs. Kavitha (Assist. Lecturer) and a video assisted health teaching were provided by the 1st year M.Sc community health nursing students by actively involving the school children.



The whole programme was guided and supported by Mrs. Leena K C (Associate Professor) Dept of Community Health Nursing, FMCON.
The programme came to an end by recital of the oath of preventing AIDS.

Farewell Programme The Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) organized a fare well programme as a token of love, and appreciation towards the outgoing batches of P.C.B.SC., B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing students.
Course Inauguration
Teachers Day Celebration Teachers, day was celebrated by the students of the College and School of Nursing on 6th September .2007 at the Academy Hall. The students entertained the teachers with a cultural programme along with a few games. Mrs. Leena K.C., Assistant Professor, FMCON spoke on behalf of the faculty. A group of faculty members entertained the gathering through dance and song and a skit. The whole day was filled with fun and frolic.
National Workshop well planned National Workshop was conducted by Father Muller College of Nursing on "The Application of Bio-Statistics in Research" on 31st August and 1st September,2007. 268 delegates participated in the workshop. Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Prof. & HOD of Microbiology from College of Fisheries, Mangalore inaugurated the workshop. Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director delivered the Presidential address. Mrs. Agnes E. J., Associate Professor, was the Organizing Secretary, and Sr. Jacintha D’Souza, Principal, was the Organizing Chairperson.
Nutrition day Students of B.Sc. & P.C.B.Sc. Nursing celebrated Nutrition day on 5th and 30th August 2007, respectively. On the occasion they displayed verities of Therapeutic Diet cheap and best.
Health Education Programme - Health education on prevention of accidents was conducted by the II year B.Sc.Nursing students at Govt. Primary School, Moodushedde.
- Health education on Hazards of tobacco was conducted by the IV year B.Sc.Nursing students at Father Muller Hospital.
-Health camp was conducted by the IV year B.Sc.Nursing students at Moodushedde.
-Health education programme on AIDS was conducted by II year PC.B.Sc Nursing students at Father Muller Hospital.
- Medical camp and Health Education programme on Personal Hygiene was conducted by the II year M.Sc.Nursing students at Subaschandra Primary School, Moodushedde, Mangalore. 550 students participated in the programme.
HIV Training Programme HIV training to staff nurses sponsored by Christian Hospital Association of India (CHAI) was conducted from 8th to 12th October 2007. 60 members from the Institutions participated in the programme. Mrs. Chanu Bhattacharya, Professor and HOD of Mental Health Nursing led the programme in association with the other trainers from the College of Nursing and Sneha Sadan, Mangalore an institution for HIV/AIDS patients.
