Breastfeeding Week Celebration

The Department of Pediatric Medicine Pediatric nursing of Father Muller Medical College and College of Nursing conducted the second day’s programme at Bantwal .Dr Radhika the Medical officer was the chief guest who , also highlighted on the importance of Breastfeeding.Dr.Aby and Dr. krishnamoorthy from the department of Pediatric Medicine (Father Muller Medical College Hospital) assessed the infants for a healthy baby competition .A Quiz for mothers was also conducted by Mrs.Prema c D’souza (HOD of Pediatric Nursing) welcomed and Mrs. Savitha Cutino (HOD of OBG Nursing) thanked the gathering. A CD developed by department of Pediatric Medicine and Nursing on breastfeeding(Amritha Bindhu) was displayed and doubts of the mothers were clarified . Father Muller Health cards were also made available. The winners of different events were awarded with various prizes.The program was attended by 150 mothers with their babies. Mrs.Wilma Noronha, Ms.Pavithra, Mr.Manoj, Mr.Santhosh, along with 1^st year MSc Nursing of Pediatric and OBG department students supported the programme and made it a great success.

A program was also conducted at the Primary Health Centre, Jeppu on 2^nd August 2012. A total of 60 mothers were present from the locality. The program started by 10:45 am and was anchored by Ms.Priya Fernandes, Lecturer, Department of Paediatric Nursing FMCON who welcomed the gathering.. Along with the chief guest Dr.R.P.Pai, Dr.Shalini and Dr.Reeka were seated on the dias . The chief guest highlighted the importance of Breastfeeding and Breast milk and its need for the growth and development of the child. . On this occasion, a quiz program was conducted for mothers and prizes distributed for the three winners by Mrs. Maria Lasrado, Lecturer, Department Paediatric Nursing, FMCON. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Pramila, Lecturer, Department of OBG Nursing, FMCON. After the formal function, an educative video on Breastfeeding , prepared by the Department of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Nursing , “AMRITHA BINDHU” was displayed for the audience .
