Report on “CME in Pathology”

A CME in Pathology was organized by the Department of Pathology, FMMC, Mangalore on 3^rd February 2013 under the aegis of South Kanara District Unit of Karnataka Chapter of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists (SK-KCIAPM). Dr. Shama Prasad, Manipal Life Sciences, Manipal was the resource person and delivered guest lectures on “Principles and Guidelines of DNA Microarray” and “Application of DNA Microarray in Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment”. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr Jayaprakash Alva, Dean, FMMC. Dr Hilda Fernandes, Professor & HOD of Pathology, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guest Speaker. Dr Umashankar, Professor of Pathology delivered the vote of thanks. About 70 delegates participated in the CME.

As a part of the CME, Pathology Quiz was organized for the Pathology Post-Graduates. 22 teams from various medical colleges took part in the preliminary round. Top five teams were qualified for the final round. The team from KMC, Mangalore won the first prize and the team from FMMC, Mangalore won the second prize. The quiz was conducted by Dr Umashankar and Dr Sumanth.
