Violence against Women and Children
Saturday, 9th February 2013 was a day which saw all the undergraduates of the MBBS and BPT streams of FMMC gather for a very unique talk. The topic for the talk “Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Violence against Women and Children” was well explored by the speaker, Dr. Arthur D’souza. It was held in the Decennial Memorial Hall at 2:45pm. The talk organised by the Student Development Committee was attended by the Dean, Dr. J.P.Alva; the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Denis D’sa; Dr. Padmaja Udaykumar, Head of Anti-Women Harassment Cell for Staff; Dr. Malathi M, Head of Anti-Women Harassment Cell for Students; and Dr. Sudhir Prabhu, Assistant Professor in Dept. of Community Medicine.
The initial 45 minutes were taken up by the speaker, Dr. Arthur while the next 20 minutes was an interactive session conducted by Rev. Fr. Denis D’sa, with the dignitaries as the panel. All in all a fruitful discussion prevailed which reminded and brought out the strong sentiments of the student fraternity on this issue.
