CANCER Awareness Program at Tanneerbaavi
A group health education programme was conducted at Youth Club Anganwadi, Thanneerbavi on 9th February 2013. It was organised by IV year BSc. Nursing students of Fr. Muller College of nursing under the guidance of staffs of Department of Community Health Nursing & Nutrition.
The health education started at 10 am with a prayer song. The topic of health education was “Cancer and its prevention”. The students of IV Bsc. Nursing educated the Anganwadi children as well as the parents about the causes, signs and symptoms, treatment and prevention of cancer through role play, puppet show, and power point presentation followed by lecture cum discussion method. Leaflets prepared in Kannada about breast self examination were distributed at the end of the session. Doubts were clarified and feedback was collected from the audience. A total of 43 children and parents were benefited from the health education programme.

Mr. Balarama V. R. And Ms. Shwetha, lecturers, Community Health Nursing Department, FMCON were present for the programme. The Anganwadi worker Mrs. Damayanthi and the helper Mrs. Rohini were helpful in informing the people and organising the programme.
The programme concluded at 11 am with the distribution of sweets.
