World Breast Feeding Week Celeberation

The Department of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Nursing along with OBG Nursing Father Muller Charitable Institutions is organizing a week programme from August 1^st to 7^th,  in commemoration of the World Breast Feeding Week 2012.

As a part of Breast Feeding Week, various activities were organized. The health education, quiz and baby show was conducted at Padavinangadi, Mullerkad on 7th August 2012. A total of 50 mothers with their babies were present and the program started with a prayer song at 10.45am. The dignitaries of the day were welcomed by Mrs.Wilma D’Souza, Lecturer, FMCON. The chief guest of the programme was Sri Jayananda Anchan, Member of Mangalore City Corporation Kadripaduv ward and the other guests Srimathi Bharathi Dinesh, Member of Mangalore City Corporation Pachanadi ward, Sri.Prasantha Pai, President of public Ganesshostava committee, and Dr. Narasimha Reddy, Pediatrician, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, were seated on the dias. The chief guest highlighted the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits for the growth and development of the children. He thanked and encouraged the FMCI to organise such programmes in the community. After the inaugural address, an educative video on Breastfeeding , developed by the Department of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Nursing “AMRITHA BINDHU” was displayed for the audience followed by, prizes distribution for the winners of quiz and baby show. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Savitha HOD, OBG Nursing, Father Muller College of Nursing .
