MCI National Workshop to be organized at FMMC
The Medical Council of India is completing 75 years of its glorious and fruitful service in the field of Medical Education and Research. In order to commemorate this great event and celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of MCI meaningfully, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore, is organising a National Workshop under the guidance of the Medical Council of India on Sunday, December 21, 2008 in Mangalore. The theme selected for the workshop is ‘The Economics of Healthcare in the Indian Scenario’. The objective of the workshop is to reflect and discuss on this crucial issue of ‘Healthcare Economics’ in the context of increasing cost of Medical Education and Healthcare Services.
The Workshop will be held in the Conference Hall of the hospital and will be attended by administrators, deans and finance officers of various medical colleges, and representatives of the Medical Council of India. The programme will be inaugurated by Dr (Mrs.) S. Kantha, Former Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and MCI representative.The chief guest is Mr. Albert Tauro, Chairman and Managing Director of Vijaya Bank. Rev Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions will preside. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr S. Chandrashekar Shetty, Vice Chancellor of Sri Devraj Urs University, Kolar.
The first session will be on ‘Cost of Medical Education’ and will be moderated by Dr Satish Jigajinni, Vice Chancellor of BLDE University, Bijapur. Dr Ashok, Prof of Surgery and Registrar, Academics of M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore will be the Prime mover for this session.
The second session will be on ‘Alternate Sources of Financing for Hospital Services’, moderated by Dr Akheel Ahemad, Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya University, Mangalore. The Prime Mover for this session will be Prof S.P. Srinivasan from Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Bangalore.
Dr P. Nagaraj, Dean of SSIMS and RC, Davangere and Dr V.D. Patil,Dean of JNMC, Belgaum will be the Rapporteurs for the Finalization of Recommendations to the Medical Council of India. |
