Two cases of ulcerative colitis which failed medical line of treatment were treated by total proctocolectomy and ileal J pouch with ileo anal anatomosis recently in Father Muller’s Medical College Hospital. Both the patients recovered well and totally cured of their condition.
Ulcerative colitis is multiple ulcerated lesion involving rectum and entire colon resulting in troublesome diarrhea, blood and mucus in stools with recurrent attacks and abdominal pain. Usually this condition is treated medically like steroids, antibiotics and immuno suppression. Failed medical treatment requires surgery.
Both the procedures were done by the same team of doctors consisting of 1. Dr. Rakesh Rai 2. Dr. Erel Diaz (Senior Surgeon) 3. Dr. Suhith 4. Dr. Rajeev
Anaesthesia team : 1. Dr. Kishan Shetty 2. Dr. Preeti Ball.
This is possible due to state of art facility like harmonic scalpel and Endo GI staplers available in Father Muller’s Medical College Hospital. |
