History :
Origin of Father Muller’s dates back to 1880, it was started by a Jesuit priest Rev. Fr.Augustus Muller
-
1952:Lourdes ward was constructed to house surgical patients both men and women.
-
1953:Dr.P.V.Venkat Rao came back from London with his FRCS degree and joined this institution in the month of February and worked as a Chief Medical Officer and a surgeon till his retirement on March 12th 1982. He was a general surgeon in a true sense, performing almost any surgical procedures.

1962: During Dr.Venkat Rao’s tenure a modern operation theatre was established.

1964:Dr.Venkat Rao performed the first mitral valvotomy and stenting.

1971:Post operative and Intensive Care Unit was established.

1972:Cardiothoracic Unit was established.

1975:Dr.H.W.Furtado joined the institution as a Consultant General Surgeon and Urologist, served for 28yrs till his retirement in 2003.

1978:Dr.Madhava Adiga joined this institution as a General Surgeon and Urologist till 1990.
-
1991:Dr.Ramdas Rai served for 1 year as General Surgeon and Gastroentrologist.

1990:Post Graduate degree in Surgery (DNB) was started.

1992:M.S.General Surgery course was started.

1992:First Head of Department was Dr.Kalyana Sundaram

Followed by Dr.Menon

Dr. S.R. Shetty 2000 -2006

Dr. H.D. Shenoy 2006-2008

Dr. P. Sathyamoorthy. Aithala Aug 2008 – Aug 2012

Present HOD – Dr. Erel A.I. Diaz – Sept. 2012 to till date

1999:Father Muller had the privilege of starting a Medical College.4 Units of Surgery was started.
-
2001-2002: Laparoscopic surgery started with Carlx Storz Single chip
-
2005:New OT and a full fledged post operative ward was started.
-
2009: A New Laparoscopic – Karl Storz – (Tricam SL II SCB Make) installed in OT Oct.2009.
-
2009:Oncology OT was started.
-
ESWL Unit established May 2010.
-
There are 3 general wards:
-
‘N’ and ‘M’ ward- Male General Ward
-
‘O’ ward- Female General Ward.

Total number of beds: 168

‘M’ ward:55 beds

‘O’ ward:63 beds
